Ajax was incorporated in 1941 and named after the British light cruiser HMS Ajax. Streets in the town are named after the ship's crew.

Ajax is Bounded on the West and North by Pickering. Toronto in its turn is immediately to West of Pickering. To the East Ajax buts on Whitby. The southern boundary of Ajax is Lake Ontario.

Ajax Home Week Waterfront Festival will be held on Sunday, June 18, 2006, in Rotary Park. There will be a Rotary Pancake Breakfast, Ajax Acro's obstacle course, jumping castles, duck derby, volleyball tournament, Horesshoe tournament, stage show and Fireworks!

First day October 2005, Ajax the new Civic Square at the corner of Harwood Avenue and Kings Crescent was opened and the town's legacy fountain was unvailed.
